How to straighten bent bristles

Updated over 4 months ago

As much as most brushes are originally supplied with protective brush caps, sometimes these can fall off before they even arrive in our warehouse or when we send them to you.

Even though the inclusion of a brush cap is not guaranteed, we do our best to use them and otherwise pack everything in a way that assures no damage will occur. That being said, accidents may still happen.

In most cases, any damage to the brush hairs is temporary and will correct itself once the brush is immersed in a liquid such as water, oil, or solvent. Alternatively, holding the brush over steam can help restore its shape.

Manufacturers often dip brushes in gum arabic to maintain their shape. Brushes that haven't been treated this way may feel soft or look misshapen, but wetting the brush usually restores its proper form. Brushes treated with gum arabic should be rinsed before use.

Please note: if you're using the brush with oil-based media, ensure it is completely dry before use.
